Easy DIY backyard upgrades | Jones Pools

If there is a downside to owning an inground pool, sometimes it can seem like there’s always an extra cost. Even after installation, you need to shell out for chemicals, toys, patios, outdoor kitchens, gazebos and an ever-growing list of enhancements to make your pool and yard a better place to be.

But it doesn’t have to be that way. Check out these easy DIY backyard upgrades that won’t break the bank either.

Inexpensive DIY Backyard Upgrades

Not only will these backyard ideas save you some money, but many will give your yard a personal creative touch that will help set your outdoor space apart from the rest.

  1. A Pinecone Flower Bed – If you have evergreen trees on your property, you’re probably not a big fan of pine cones. Not only can they hurt when you step on them, but they can hurt the lawn mower blade too. But you’ll be amazed at how cool they look in your flower beds.
  2. Get Creative With Old Cinder Blocks – Just about every home has some cinder blocks hanging around from a long-forgotten project. With a little bit of paint, you can create decorative planters, a patio coffee table or, with some lumber and cushions, a comfy outdoor couch.
  3. Light it Up – Outdoor lighting can be magical, and costly. But you can get more use from your plain or coloured Christmas lights around the deck, patio or yard. Simply string lights along fence tops, around garden beds or even decorate a tree.
  4. Get Into the Pallet Craze – Old wooden pallets are all the rage for interior decorating and they can do the same for your backyard too. Use them to build a funky vertical garden, a walkway or even extra seating around the fire pit or pool area.

Now that you’re saving so much money on your backyard features, you’ll be able to get more swimming pool water features!
