3 Reasons Why You Should Choose a Vinyl Inground Pool

why you should choose a Vinyl Inground Pool

The middle of winter is a popular time to be thinking about swimming pools. It’s just about the time of year when we all start to get a little bit cabin fever here in Toronto and the GTA, and we start pining for summer fun. If you’re thinking of installing your first inground pool, one of the decisions you’ll have to make is whether you go with a vinyl, concrete or fibreglass pools. While they all have advantages and disadvantages, we feel the one clear choice is a vinyl inground pool.

Why Choose a Vinyl Inground Pool?

Sometimes advantages can become disadvantages. While concrete pools are usually considered the most durable due to their concrete construction, watch out if you ever have to repair a crack. With that in mind, here’s why we recommend you install a vinyl pool.

  1. Lower Installation and Maintenance Costs – You can expect to pay about $10,000 less to install a vinyl pool versus either a concrete or fibreglass pool installation. And ongoing maintenance costs can be lower, including lower energy and chemical costs than concrete pools. Some say that the cost of replacing the vinyl liner, which can last 10 to 15 years, adds to the cost of maintaining a vinyl pool. On the plus side, when you do replace your liner, it’s like getting a brand new pool, whereas upgrading the look of a concrete or fibreglass pool can cost significantly more.
  2. Customized Pool Layouts and Liner Designs – If you want a pool that’s custom-shaped to your yard and your choice of liner designs, vinyl is definitely the way to go.

  3. Less Swimming Pool Maintenance – From the ease and speed of which a leak can be repaired to less need for cleaning the surface of the vinyl, you’ll have more time to enjoy a vinyl pool instead of working on it.
