3 Things To Consider Before You Start Your Pool Renovation

Regardless of whether your inground pool is looking a little tattered around the edges or you want to add a swimming pool water feature, there’s a pool renovation in your future.

If you are upgrading your pool, you have the advantage of not needing to do it sooner than later.  But if you need to do some restoration work on an existing pool, including fixing cracks in the concrete deck or pool wall, or replacing a pool liner, you should probably get the work done before the issues cause real problems.

Considerations Before a Pool Remodelling Project

Regardless of why you’re renovating your pool, consider the following before you start.

  1. When is the Right Time? – This one is tougher to answer than it might seem. One way to decide is to choose a time of year, like the fall, when pool renovators may offer discounts that make the reno more cost-effective. But if you have a crack in a concrete pool, it may not last until the fall.
  2. Know Exactly What You Want – Natural stone is a great idea for a new pool deck. But looks, textures and costs can vary widely. The more you research your options, the better you’ll be able to decide what you want and how much you want to spend on each element of the renovation.
  3. Get Ready for the Realities of Pool Renovations – Of course, if you’re repairing a pool wall or replacing a liner, you’re not going to be able to swim while the work is being done. But other pool renovations can have different implications for how you use your pool and yard. Children should be kept away from construction areas. Your lawn may be dug and resodded. It may get messy. And noisy when equipment is in use.
