Pools are made for enjoyment and entertainment. You can enjoy time with family and friends, sharing laughs and making new memories. Pools add value to your home by turning your backyard into an oasis. They are a desirable and sought out feature in any home. However, pools do not function without water! And, they need a lot of it.

Here are a few ways to save pool water during the summer.

Cover Your Pool

When you’re splashing and swimming in your pool, it won’t be covered. But, chances are water will splash out of the pool resulting in loss of pool water. When your pool is not in use there is still a chance that you can lose pool water due to external factors. Wind and rain can create waves in your pool and splash water around. And wind and sunshine can evaporate the water too. When you aren’t using your pool, keep it covered to prevent water loss.

Turn Off Water Features

Waterfalls, slides, and fountains all use extra water. And, as a result, you lose water. This shouldn’t prevent you from never using these features. At the end of the day, they’re made to be used. But, you shouldn’t have them running when your pool isn’t in use. It will lead to you having to fill your pool more regularly than you need to. Plus, you will have to add extra chemicals in order to keep the pool water balanced.

Reduce Water Temperature

Although warm pools are desirable, they lead to evaporation. And, there is nothing you can do to prevent warm water from evaporating. Try to keep your pool temperature at a lower heat and allow it to warm from the sun. Not only will this save you water, but it will save you money as well!
